I know how hard it is to be a mother a...Very good. I know how hard it is to be a mother and a grandmother - and yes, I do sleep with my bedroom window open also. The window is right next to the head of my bed so no one - if there were some one - is going to get to that window without me knowing it. I do have a glass of water on my bed table and after attending self defense classes years ago I know that a glass of water to the face will deter anyone long enough to get the window shut - though I don't think of that when I put the water there - I simply think that I will wake in the night sometime and want a drink of water - so it is there every night.<br /><br />Some people sleep with their car remote next to the bed - so in case of emergency they can set off the car alarm, though my thoughts on that are that the neighbors will probably be so used to car alarms that they will pull the pillow over their head and try to go back to sleep.<br /><br />I think that surviving cancer (I'm almost five years out now) make quite a difference in the way we view fear and the world around us.
